SSB SEIZED 9.5 KILOGRAM CHARAS IN BIHAR AND UTTAR PRADESH
New Delhi 14/02/2017 – SSB has launched an intensive operation against international Drug Smugglers on Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan Border so that security could be inculcated among the border population and the border of the country and bordering people could be secured in true spirit. Recently in an operation, the Personnel of 44th SSB Battalion, Narkatiaganj, Bihar, seized 7 (Seven) kilograms of charas worth Rupees 1.5 crore from Indo-Nepal Border on 12th February, 2017. Continuing its incessant campaign against drug smugglers, SSB personnel of 50th SSB Batallion, Uttaraula, Uttar Pradesh arrested one person and seized 2.5 kilograms charas. It has been observed that due to operation launched by SSB, the drug smugglers are changing their modus-operandi and now they have resorted to use innocent women in their illicit business.
Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has seized 268 kilograms of charas worth rupees 31 crore approximately and has arrested 84 drug peddlers in 2016. This year during January, force has apprehended 7 peddlers in six different cases and seized about 14 KG Charas worth Rs. 1.88 Crore. Besides this, SSB has destroyed 150 Acres poppy cultivation in Naxal affected Gaya District of Bihar in 2016. This year in the month of January/February, SSB has destroyed 78 Acres of Poppy cultivation.
