Gorakhpur is situated in the eastern part of the state of Uttar Pradesh in India, near Indo-Nepal border. It is the administrative headquarters of Gorakhpur District and Gorakhpur Division. Gorakhpur is famous as a religious center: the city was home to Buddhist, Hindu, Jain and Sikh saints and is named after the medieval saint Gorakshanath. Gorakhnath Temple is still the seat of the Nath sect. The city is also home to many historic Buddhist sites and the Geeta Press, a publisher of Hindu religious texts. In the 20th century, Gorakhpur was also a focal point in the Indian independence movement. Gorakhpur town is connected to all major cities by Road, Train and Air during all seasons. Gorakhpur is the hub of all modern facilities in the field of health education and technology as well as this city is cultural centre of eastern Uttar Pradesh .The Ad-hoc Training center Gorakhpur Started Functioning w.e.f. 1st Feb 2005 with intake of 29 VVF Trainees. This Training Centre was rechristened as Recruit Training Centre with posting of Deputy Inspector General as a head of institution on 9th September, 2011. RTC Gorakhpur is one of the biggest Training Centre in SSB in terms of capacity. Since inception RTC Gorakhpur has been imparting training for approximately 1500 trainees every year. Presently RTC is being in FCIL complex comprises of more than 500 acre. The training centre is conducted basic courses, pre promotional courses and professional courses. Besides, Border Crime and management courses are also being conducted for Nepal Police officers. RTC SSB Gorakhpur has developed very good infrastructure for training having 07 Nos of big Training Grounds, Auditorium, I-FATS, Map Reading museum / Weapon museum / IED model room, Hundred yards firing range, disaster management area, drill / PT / Boxing / Weapon nurseries, sufficient residential accommodation with kitchens and dining halls etc which helps in smooth conducting of quality training. This training centre uses multimedia classrooms having interactive boards, multimedia projectors, etc for conducting all indoor classes. All the indoor classes are taken by officers & SOs only and conduct class with supporting powerpoints, animations and video films. During the training duration, all the trainees are being trained in basic use of computer & internet. This training centre has trained more than 15000 trainees in short span of time of 09 years. The training of this training centre has been appreciated many times by visiting officers of SSB as well as other organizations. The Training center’s main objective is to impart the training to the trainees in such a manner that trainees could face the challenges posed by antinational forces and guard the borders with the greater vigor so that nation could feel proud of them. While imparting professional training, this training centre is working hard to realize the slogan of training directorate “Towards excellence” and also inculcates various moral values and to achieve the message from motto of the Force:- “Sewa Suraksha Bandhutav"
