DG SSB met Sh. Ashok Jain, IAS Chief Secretary, Govt of Rajasthan

Smt. Archana Ramasundaram IPS, Director General, SSB is on a two days' visit to Rajasthan on 11th Aug & 12 Aug 2017 to pursue land related matters of the Force in the state.  In this connection, she met the Chief Secretary of Rajasthan Sh. Ashok Jain today on 11th August 2017 and requested him to allot a suitable piece of land of nearly 5 acres to SSB for construction of Separated Family Accommodation (SFA) in Jaipur. This will benefit the families of SSB Jawans and other ranks who are posted in far flung border areas. This will facilitate these families to live in a campus where they will get good facilities of schools, medical and other amenities. This welfare measure would not only improve the poor housing satisfaction of SSB but would also bring down the stress levels of Jawans who are not able to keep their families with them in border areas. She drew attention to the fact that SSB, one of the border guarding forces under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt of India is in an expansion mode and had raised 68 battalions and 629 border outposts so far. At present, there are nearly 78000 personnel in SSB of whom 5500 are from Rajasthan. One of the martyrs of SSB in 2016 was Ghanshyam Gurjar who hailed from Dausa district. The Chief Secy assured that 5 acres of land for construction of SFA will be provided to SSB in Jaipur. He also agreed to provide all basic facilities to the 60 acres of land allotted to SSB in Falliyawas, Jaipur such as approach road, water, electricity etc so that it could be developed as a nice campus and be suitably used as Recruit Training Centre.The meeting was also attended by Shri Mukesh Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary (Urban development), Shri Deepak Upreti, Principal Secretary, Shri Vaibhav Galriya, Jaipur Development Authority and Shri Rajender Singh Shekhawat, Joint Secy, Urban Development, Rajasthan. Prior to meeting Chief Secretary She first made a courtesy call to Sh.  In Rajasthan, SSB has two units at Alwar- one Reserve BN HQ and a Dog Breeding & Training Centre. Besides, SSB also proposes to build a Recruit Training Centre (RTC) in Rajasthan for which land has been provided but certain basic amenities are yet to be provided.

She also used this opportunity to pay a short visit to Maharani's College where she not only studied from 1974 to 1976 but also taught as a Lecturer of Economics in 1978-79. She met the principal and several students at the college. It is pertinent to add that Smt Archana Ramasundaram IPS, a 1980 batch IPS officer allotted to Tamilnadu Cadre, is the first woman officer to head a paramilitary force in India.
