New Delhi- 10 July, 2017 – SSB has become the first CAPF to implement the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the National Skill Development Centre under the Ministry of Skill Development, Government of India.  As a Force, SSB has launched the three months long fresh Skill Development Training Programme in an impressive function organized at the SSB Recruits Training Centre, Gorakhpur on 9th July, 2017.  Shri Yogi Adityanathji, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh was the Chief Guest during the occasion.

During her welcome address DG, SSB Smt. Archana Ramasundaram thanked Sh. Yogi Adityanath ji, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for sparing valuable time for inauguration of the training programme. SSB has established its Frontier Hqrs. at Lucknow on 13 January, 2003 and is deployed in 07 border districts on Indo-Nepal border having 489 square kilometre length. Eight Battalions are deployed under Lucknow frontier and 125 Border Out Posts are on borders guarding INB. There is a considerable decline in smuggling and illegal activities after the deployment of SSB on INB. This year since January 2017, SSB has registered 504 cases and made seizures of worth Rs. 34, 92, 20,332/- till date. 619 apprehensions have been made during this period. Lucknow frontier has registered 15 cases alone in Human Trafficking and rescued 36 females and 01 male from the clutches of Human Traffickers and apprehended 15 males and 01 female Human Traffickers.

First Battalion Maharajganj has apprehended dreaded Hizbul Muzahidin terrorist Naseer Ahmed on 13.05.2017, while trying to sneak into India near Sonauli Border Out Post.

SSB on Indo-Nepal border is not only providing security on the border but also initiating various welfare schemes for the border population upholding the letter and spirit of their motto, Seva, Suraksha and Bandhutva. SSB is encouraging youth of Indo-Nepal Border & Indo-Bhutan Border to be part of SSB’s sports activities sprits for their physical upliftment and bonding them with FIFA – 2017. On one hand and on other hand giving pace to the Prime Minister’s National Policy “SABKA SATH SABKA VIKAS”. In accordance with this policy SSB has made public private partnership(PPP)  agreement with NSDC for making/providing  skill development for self employment. 

DG, SSB Smt. Archana Ramasundaram elaborated the objectives of establishing National Development Centres. These centres will impart training to retired personnel and dependents of SSB personnel, local people living along border in AOR of SSB, victims of Human Trafficking rescued by SSB, students who are school drop-outs due to adverse circumstances and unemployed youth who has strayed and are getting lured to indulge in anti-social and anti-national activities.

Training will be imparted under two types of programmes, first Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for in-service personnel and second, fresh skilling. DG, SSB specifically mentioned that three types of training courses of self tailor, mobile repairing and retail goods sales training will be run at Gorakhpur centre. She further elaborated that SSB is first CAPF (Central Armed Police Force) to commence implementation of MoU for fresh skilling and three months course on Skill Development for public. Another unique feature is that SSB has taken youth for Skill Development Programme from remote border areas.

Hon’ble UP CM Sh. Yogi Adityanath in his speech at Gorakhpur applauded the work done by SSB on Indo-Nepal border in not only providing security on the border but also initiating various welfare schemes for the border population upholding the letter and spirit of their motto, Seva, Suraksha and Bandhutva and promised to process the file for hundred acres of land at Gorakhpur. Hon’ble CM urged to involve Nepalese youth in Skill Development Programme as India is having traditional relation with Nepal. He also assured to provide all possible help to SSB to fulfill its mandate on INB. Hon’ble UP CM Sh. Yogi Adityanath asserted that youth power is invaluable asset of the county which can only be tapped by using their skill properly so that every hand should get self-employment and our nation can move with a fast pace on the path of growth. He made an appeal to youth to enrol themselves in Skill Development Centres, develop their skill for self employment and contribute towards development of the country.


Hon’ble UP CM Sh. Yogi Adityanath appealed to the people to take food processing as a business under Skill Development, as food processing is having huge opportunities for youths.

Member of parliament Maharajganj Pankaj Chaudhary, Commissioner Gorakhpur Anil Kumar, Inspector General Gorakhpur Mohit Agarwal, DC Gorakhpur Rajiv Sautela were also present on this occasion.
